‘BIRDBRAINED’ REALITY THOUGHTS FROM AN INSTINCTIVE LONDON OBSERVERS URBAN BACKYARD. In our empty shorn backyard with all its dead looking plants bare twigs and empty pots. The only greenery is the lush spreading ivy to soften the appearance of brickwork –
2011 February 24th.

Photos: Bearded Tit: – Lively colourful characters performing as reed-bed clowns acrobats with crazy Zapata moustaches eye tufts and long trailing tails.

So Sociable. So precious. ‘Bearded Tit’Breeds and winters in reed beds flying rapidly over. With high ‘ping’ calls.

Vulnerable to severe winters and their populations have sadly tearfully declined.
“At times reduced to a mere handful.” Bearded Tit – Future – Extinction?

Glamorous glorious to look at. Our Lovely Bearded Tit. Our tragic LOSS – WHY?

Wretchedly Britain’s Amber List. ‘AMBER’? Oh give ‘us’ strength… More like Near Dead ‘RED!’

2011 May: Note Songbird Numbers And – RECENT Data?
The Majority Is So Old! And – ‘Utterly Out of Date.’

Cont: From October there were so many plump striped spiders their web lines started and engineered from high twiggy stems straight across for at least 12′ in a dead straight line to another twiggy anchor. Their webs just above level of our heads so they must sense our movement to avoid losing them.
Spiders – Amazing skills we know barely a thing about.

‘My’ female blackbird Wanda was perched hidden in a small tree singing away for hours so quietly to herself and I hope contentedly while I tidied up things and swept about. And oh what a relief I saw at last Wuffy again the male sitting in his usual place in the ivy after the long snowed in winter. Its been such a long time not seeing him at all or knowing where he was or even if he was alright.
Also found lots of grapes thrown out in the nearby market which songbirds love, so the grapes will now go to a good cause of feeding just ‘only’ two songbirds. And the only ‘two’ Garden Birds left in the whole area…! IT’S Just REALLY – ‘Utterly Disgraceful.’
And still I’m trying to save so much chucked away – and seeing such good ‘waste’ food…?

“We humans need songbirds they eat clearing up billions of our slugs bugs creepy crawly pests that all eat our plant and food crops.”
Just like we need the bees that also do also so much for us.

Einstein: Said – “Without Bees Humans Will Only Be Able To Survive For Four Years.” Read below –

Lesser Redpoll. 2010 Numbers RED DEAD 90%…!
Truly Criminal – RSPB Prefer and merely refer to numbers ‘Down.’

Lesser Redpoll is (WAS !) the smallest most brownish cream streaked of four different redpoll finches.
Males wonderful red forehead black-bib pink cheeks throat breast and rump.

Feeds amongst alders spruce birch trees hanging upside-down for seeds.
Breeding in summer they take insects. Performs elaborate rattling song flights over their breeding area.

Considerable concern regarding the species.’

Yet the beautiful delightful little Lesser Redpoll – Has only recently been moved to this – Loathsome Red ‘Death’ List of species of conservation concern…! To WHO – ?

“1970s down to one-tenth in numbers.” RSPB! ‘WHAT’ REALLY ARE – ‘YOU’ DOING?

2010: Numbers DEAD 90%! – SHOCKING. ‘Yes Nearly – ALL GONE!’

“Who ARE – Doing ‘something’ and putting their money where the ‘Truth’ is – For Our Garden Songbirds.”

Cont: Britain’s Bees – Could be the worst affected because so little is being done to combat the problem. Its fact England is suffering more than any other European country in terms of the disappearance of bees and was doing the least.
All other countries are making bans on certain pesticides that we’re still endorsing. Also allowing their ‘weeds’ to grow. Massively investing in making sure there are many areas of wild flowers. ‘All we’re doing is wanting to replace past bees with a super bee.’

Bees are being blighted by combination of over work and undernourishment all due to lack of wildflowers being allowed to grow in countries across the globe. Their decline poses a serious threat to human food supplies which rely on bees for pollination.
Bees are responsible for most of our food diversity. Without the bees ‘we’ will be seriously undernourished.

Journal Nature Neuroscience 2010 says how we see the environment depends on the size of the brain. People with a large primary visual cortex are better at processing the size of projects objects than those with a small area – Size matters it seems like thoughts and emotions differ from one person to another.
And the same is true for how we see the world.

Man has so altered the Earth in the past ‘few hundred years’ that we might have brought about a new period in its history.
Man’s world; It’s an epoch making breakthrough – literally. ‘Is this to be hailed or ‘hell’-ed’…

Erosion temperature raises ocean acidification and wildlife changes caused by human dominance have shifted us from the pre – industrial Holocene epoch to the new Anthropecene. Such is the evidence that the new era must now be formalised geologists have said at the University of Leicester.

Humbled by songbirds trees and nature? Here we are a remarkable species with an extraordinary capacity – to appreciate what this world has. Our planet is its uniqueness in the universe yet we stubbornly don’t want to solve its problems. Not many are feeling hopeful.

“Ocean Temperature Acidification” – ‘MASSIVE’ Wildlife Changes…! — “Human Dominance.”

There is more awareness but our actions demonstrate that we are still ploughing on in the opposite direction when more than half of all primates are endangered. We never hear the forest is ever expanding or that there are more of monkeys or of whatever species than before.
It’s always negative news. The reality is not looking good at all. In fact the truth is its bleak.

There are individual projects some fantastic work going on but stand back and look at the whole picture the story is the same wherever you go. Fewer animals less wildlife less natural habitat and more pollution. There is short-sightedness but at least attitudes have changed dramatically in recent years.
We could turn around but will we?

“Things are apparently drastically wrong in and to – far too many animals around us.”

Catastrophically All killed by ‘one’ Magpie April 2010…!

Magpies ‘Again’ RSPB! ‘One’ wiped us out Killing – 5 baby Blackbirds – Every Year The Same!

Cont: “The roots of our behaviour are apparent in many of the animals around us. That should teach us that we are part of something much bigger. That we should take better care of it.”
Are we doing so? Who is hopeful.

It saddens many that whales must communicate and what it means for their chances for survival. They have to talk across vast distances with each other in order to find a mate they use a sound signal they broadcast along a channel about 3,000 ft down where warm surface water meets high pressure depths.

Blue whale calls are affected by man-made noise. The mammals are more likely to emit mating and foraging sounds when ships were nearby. These made less noise when mid-frequency sonar was present.

“It is not clear what long term effects this human noise may have on them scientists from the US say.”

This sound fixing and ranging channel carries most sound frequencies better than any other. A whale’s song when it hits that channel just goes on and on-135 million square kilometers is the range other individual can pick up song of another whale around the world.

But this channel also carries the sound of shipping the engine noise which has escalated these past many years. So the whales are now having ‘to shout’ to make themselves heard. They cannot shout any louder and for how much longer…

“If The Whales Cannot Communicate They Can’t Breed They Die. They Do Get Heard Singing… But – For How Much Longer?”

Dolphins ‘talk’ amongst themselves addressing each other as individuals when each uses a signature whistle they also know the individual calls of other dolphins in the area they know their own name and everyone else’s. Whales can focus the clicking sounds they make to locate food. They use passages in their forehead to make noise though a fat-filled acoustic lens called the melon.

2009: The Ganges is under threat environmentalists warn that pollution in the great river is worsening. Every day factories expel millions of litres into the river making its plight ‘acute and critical.’

Ashley Montagu – “The indifference, callousness and contempt that so many people exhibit toward animals is evil first because it results in great suffering in animals, and second because it results in an incalculably great impoverishment of the human spirit.”

Peats sake:’ Climate change makes northern wildfires burn more fiercely sparking a vicious circle that produces more greenhouse gases. Fires in Alaskan peat lands have grown bigger and fiercer in the past twelve years releasing carbon from the soil.

“About half the world’s soil carbon lies in the northern permafrost.”

Albert Einstein: – “Only two things are infinite the universe and human stupidly and I’m not too sure about the former…”
