“TODAY And YET ANOTHER TWO SONGBIRDS KILLED In My Garden” ‘BY FOREVER MORE’ – THE RSPB – ‘Sparrowhawks’ –

One – A HEDGE SPARROW ‘WHOSE NUMBERS ARE AT BREAKING POINT’ AND THE OTHER – A MINUTE BLUE-TIT – News: 2010
December 19th.

It’s Time To Have The Sparrowhawk Taken Off The Protected Birds List.’
Although its maybe a striking bird to look at. I for one would not miss it. Give me a garden full of song birds any day. The RSPB say we should not interfere with nature.

But they are doing just that by reintroducing birds of prey – I think I read that they are going to release Red Kites into parts of England because it was once part of our landscape. Well so was the bear and lion. Etc!!
Oh just one more thing, make the wearing of a collar and with added bells compulsory at all times for cats that are let out by their owners.

‘Banish This US Import’ – News: 2010 December 22nd

I did not see the original article on species non-native to Britain but I don’t agree with Animal Aids F Pereira and her views on grey-squirrels (Metro Mon).
Perhaps Red Squirrels were persecuted and their numbers reduced in the 18th and 19th centuries but the fact remains the biggest threat to our native Reds today is - The grey-squirrel! Greys are the US import and as such they are pests. They are larger and more aggressive than our Reds and will win out in competition for food and shelter.

‘Also as I’m sure Animal Aid knows but fails to mention grey-squirrels can carry a virus that they are immune to but which is deadly to Red Squirrels.’
I would endorse a grey-squirrel cull. In fact I would go as far as to say I would like to see every single grey-squirrel eradicated from Britain.
With a consequent return to a country populated only by our native Reds.

“Migration Is – ‘The Most Mysterious’ AND Awe-Inspiring Aspect Of Bird Behaviour” -

Throughout history man has marvelled at these feats of navigation and is still unlocking the secret of how Songbirds such as swallows house martins swifts and others find their way alone or gathering together ready to take flight to find their way over such vast distances.

Birds can navigate in the daytime using the position of the sun which they can detect even on dull days by the polarisation of light filtered through the clouds.

‘They also have a sort of internal clock which enables them to compensate for the movement of the sun across the sky. At night they navigate by the stars and work out their compass position by the centre of rotation of the night sky close to the North Pole star.’

“Migration for many species is a twice yearly journey made over thousands of miles from a summer breeding area in which food is plentiful to a wintering ground and back again. The pattern of bird migration varies greatly between species.”
In summer some migratory birds may roam over larger areas in search of good feeding conditions though some may defend a winter feeding territory.

TO SONGBIRDS-SLAUGHTER; THIS IS SO PREVALENT MY THANKS GO OUT TO YOU AND ALL THAT ”your” SITE AND SONGBIRD-SURVIVAL ARE ‘TRYING’ AND DOING IN EDUCATING ”US” IN WHAT TO DO. WE All NEED TO DO MORE THAT DOES HELP OUR GARDEN SONGBIRDS AND TO CONTRIBUTE FAR MORE.
AND DO NOT JUST MOAN AND BEING OBJECTIONABLE LIKE THE IDIOT KIDS THAT KNOW IT ALL.BUT NOTHING. THANKS A LOT. FROM THOSE THAT ALSO CARE AS WELL BUT (LIKE MOST) DO NOT DO ANYTHING.

  3. David Harris says:

Sparrowhawks are a menace. Though still illegal I would welcome ideas on how to control this increasing menace ??
Songbirds-Slaughter.org.uk: Thank-you indeed for the absolute ‘truth’ of the situation for all of our ‘remaining’ Songbirds.
    And of your concern.
Sadly forget our ‘Sparrows’ which ‘Sparrow-Hawks’ target (To Just Pull Apart) like cats do.
Mostly ALL Sparrows in Britain are already long gone dead.
This LEGAL Protection for Sparrowhawks – By the RSPB has been going on since 1954…!
Give THEM the RSPB ‘Some’ Common Sense To Open Their Eyes ? LIKE US.
    ‘They’ Live on another planet.
SO the ONLY WAY IS TO GET Political And CHANGE THE MINDSET OF THIS ‘OUTDATED’ RSPB !
They Have Always Been – Number ONE at Lobbying.
    And also (instead) join Songbird-Survival.org.uk
    Our Regards.

It’s great to see someone so passionate about saving our declining songbirds, and I totally agree that something needs to be done to protect them. However, as both you and all ”HUMANS” really do need to get a better grasp of basic ecological principals and read some scientific papers on this topic. Do not just blame the predator and scavengers. If you want to know what is responsible for this “songbird slaughter” then take a look in the mirror like all of US. Human beings are causing an alarming rate of species extinctions across the world due to habitat loss and climate change.

Songbirds-Slaughter.org.uk - OF CAUSE WERE ON YOUR SIDE – What do ‘you’ think we do and those that ‘we’ support? Like us were all making the ‘truth’ of our present situation get across to the ‘human’ race and to think ABOUT OUR ‘OWN’ POPULATION. We Support ‘POPULATION MATTERS’ AND HAVE Seven lots of full information about this subject. Look them up.
Take a look yourself and do something – To HELP? Learn from the charity – songbird-survival.org.uk
And just like the sparrowhawk humans are also the true predators and scavengers of our one planet.

But hopefully ‘we’ Don’t just Kill wildlife for Killings sake like your sparrowhawk which is the MAIN LOVE of the RSPB…?
